Another year!
Another year and another busy order book. I normally use the month of January to service all the machines. It’s not a job I enjoy but it’s very important to look after them. The machines are well used and never get much down time, a wee bit like myself! As I still had a lot of orders from before Christmas I didn’t get a chance to service every machine, I’ll need to do this over a couple of weekends.
Wood stores
Sorting out the wood stores is a big job for just me so it’s always great to get a wee help from Sam. We needed to move this year’s supply of wood blanks into the main storage area that is kept at a constant temperature and at very low humidity. The blanks are stored in order of size and species. Sam loves this part as he loads up the trailer on his go-kart and moves the blanks from the outside drying shed to the indoor space. Once all the wood supply for this year is sorted I can then work out what is required for 2018. I will get the 2018 wood supplies ordered now so that it can be stored and dried further before use in 2018.

Sammy checking out the wood!
A busy year ahead
It looks like it is going to be another very busy year ahead. I’ve already been in talks with some new companies regarding awards for this year, so I am very excited about that. I also have lots of new ideas and have started working on a new range of glass that will be launched later this year and will be exclusive to the Harmonies in Wood gallery in Edinburgh.
So please keep following the Harmonies in Wood journey on Facebook to see all the latest news. I will be running a competition to celebrate Mother’s day next month so look out for the chance to win one of my sculptures.
