Sculpture of the week 10th May 2019

The sculpture of the week was choosen by Sammy and he decided on a lovely seascape fused glass panel sliced into a slab of natural edged Scottish Ash.  I asked him why he chose this particular sculpture and this is what he said:

‘ I just love spending time on the beach as a family, playing games or collecting shells, stones, driftwood or sea washed glass. We always have so much fun at the beach and I know that my dad just loves being there too and he gets lots of inspiration for his sculptures’

This sculpture was based on a view from North Berwick and I just love the colours of glass in this sculpture too. I crushed offcuts of glass into smaller pieces to make a stunning wash effect at the edge of the sea. I selected this lovely piece of Scottish Ash as I felt the natural edge looked like sand dunes at the edge of the beach. This sculpture really comes to life when it sits in a window allowing the natural light to shine through the glass.

Great choice of sculpture this week Sammy!

Thanks for following my work and look out for next weeks sculpture of the week.
