Sculpture of the week 12th April 2019

The sculpture of the week is a stunning fused glass horizon panel mounted onto a wooden plinth.  The design of this panel was based on a very frosty evening looking up to the Pentland Hills.  The sky was so clear with just a few clouds and a stunning full moon.  The colours over the hills were very moody and were reflected in the reservoir I normally work with more colourful sculptures but I was really taken with this sculpture.  The wooden base was hand carved from a slab of kiln dried Scottish Oak.  I thought it would be good to smoke the Oak black then add a lime wax to enhance the raised grain and give a silver finish.

Thank you for following my work and please look out for next week’s sculpture of the week.
